VoiceXML, or VoxML
is an XML markup language for voice. Voice eXtensible Markup Language
(VoiceXML), is a new standard proposed by IBM, Lucent, Motorola, and
AT&T that will make Internet content and information accessible
via voice and standard telephones.
This will not only
make the Web more accessible to people with visual disabilities, but
will make access to information much easier for everyone.
The VoiceXML
Forum is an industry organization founded by AT&T, IBM, Lucent and
Motorola to establish and promote the Voice eXtensible Markup Language
(VoiceXML). The goal of VoiceXML is to make Internet content and information
accessible via voice and phone.
The Wireless Markup
Language is used by Phone.com
(previously known as Unwired Planet) and a bevy of cell-phone manufacturers
to reduce WWW content to something that is manageable on a typical phone
display of 3-4 lines of text at 20-30 characters per line.
WML started as HDML
(Handheld Device Markup Language) at Unwired Planet. When the Wireless
Application Protocol Forum was formed, it graduated to WML, which is
a fully XML compliant language:
